Ballet and Tap Dance Lessons
Sondance studio teaches six
levels of ballet and tap in three locations in Minneapolis
and Saint Paul. The levels include Red for 3, 4, & 5
year olds; Fuchsia for Kindergarten students; Tangerine for
1st grade students; Coral for 2nd & 3rd grade students;
Orange for 4th & 5th grade students with experience; Magenta
for 5th grade students with no experience or students
returning after several years away from dance.
Tangerine Ballet & Tap is a
one hour combination class for 1st
graders, including beginning Ballet and Tap. Students in
this class perform a Ballet and a Tap dance in the recital.
Dress Code: Girls: Black leotard, pink dance tights, pink
split-sole ballet slippers and black tie tap shoes. Boys:
White t-shirt, black shorts, black split-sole ballet
slippers and black boys tap shoes.
Coral Ballet & Tap is a one hour combination class for 2nd &
3rd graders that follows the Tangerine level in sequence,
including Ballet and Tap. Students in this class perform a
Tap and a Ballet dance in the recital. Dress Code: Girls:
Black leotard, pink dance tights, pink split-sole ballet
slippers and black tie tap shoes. Boys: White t-shirt, black
shorts, black split-sole ballet slippers and black boys tap
shoes. It is expected that the dancer will spend two years
at this level.
Orange Ballet & Tap is a one and a half hour
combination class that follows the Coral level in sequence;
including advanced beginning Ballet and Tap. Jazz is
introduced in this level. Students in this class perform a
Ballet and a Tap dance in the recital. Dress Code: Girls:
Black leotard, pink dance tights, pink split-sole ballet
slippers and black tie tap shoes. Boys: White t-shirt, black
shorts, black split-sole ballet slippers and black boys tap
shoes. It is expected that the dancer will spend two years
at this level.
Yellow Ballet, Tap & Jazz is a twp hour
combination class which follows the Orange class in
sequence, covering early intermediate dance steps. The class
time is divided between Ballet, Tap and Jazz. Students in
this class perform Ballet, Tap and Jazz Dances in the
recital. Dress Code: Girls: Black leotard, pink dance
tights, pink split-sole ballet slippers, black jazz shoes
and black oxford taps. Boys: White t-shirt, black shorts,
black split-sole ballet slippers, black jazz shoes and black
jazz taps. NOTE: Yellow has a different tap shoe requirement
than orange and adds jazz shoes. It is expected that the
dancer will spend two years at this level.
Green Ballet, Tap, and Jazz Combination is a
two and one half hour combination class, which follows the
Yellow class in sequence. The class time is divided into
Green Ballet (intermediate level), Silver Tap (advanced
intermediate level) and Silver Jazz (advanced intermediate
level). Students in this class perform Ballet, Tap and Jazz
Dances in the recital. Dress Code: Girls: Black leotard,
pink dance tights, pink split-sole ballet slippers, black
jazz shoes, black oxford taps and optional black jazz pants
It is expected that the dancer will spend two years at this
level.
Teal Ballet, Tap, and Jazz Combination is a
two and one half hour combination class, which follows the
Green class in sequence. The class time is divided into Teal
Ballet (advanced intermediate level), Silver Tap (advanced
intermediate level) or Gold Tap (advanced level) and Silver
Jazz (advanced intermediate level) or Gold Jazz (advanced
level). Students in this class perform Ballet, Tap and Jazz
Dances in the recital. Final placement for Tap and Jazz
levels is determined in the fall. Dress Code: Girls: Black
leotard, pink dance tights, pink split-sole ballet slippers,
black jazz shoes, black oxford taps and optional black jazz
pants It is expected that the dancer will spend two years at
this level.
Teal Ballet is a one hour Ballet class that
is usually part of a combined class (though it may be taken
alone). This class follows the Green class in sequence and
is our advanced intermediate level class. Students in this
class perform a Ballet dance in the recital. Dress Code:
Girls: Black leotard, pink dance tights, pink split-sole
ballet slippers. Boys: White t-shirt, black shorts, black
split-sole ballet slippers. It is expected that the dancer
will spend two years at this level.
Fuchsia Ballet & Tap is a 45-minute
combination class for kindergarteners, including creative
movement, Pre-Ballet work, and basic Tap. Students in this
class perform a Tap dance in the recital. Dress Code: Girls:
Any color leotard, pink dance tights, pink split-sole ballet
slippers and black tie tap shoes. Boys: White t-shirt, dark
shorts, black split-sole ballet slippers and black boys tap
shoes.
Red Ballet & Tap is a 45-minute combination
class for 3-5 year olds, including creative movement,
Pre-Ballet work, and basic Tap. Students in this class
perform a Ballet dance in the recital. Dress Code: Girls:
Any color leotard, pink dance tights, pink split-sole ballet
slippers and black tie tap shoes. Boys: White t-shirt, dark
shorts, black split-sole ballet slippers and black boys tap
shoes.
Lavender Ballet is a ballet and pre-pointe
technique class for ages 9 and older. Dress Code: Girls:
Black leotard, pink dance tights, pink split-sole ballet
slippers. Boys: White t-shirt, black shorts, black
split-sole ballet slippers. This class does not perform in
the recital.
